Arango Cigar Co.: Legacy and Tradition

Behind the Brand

At the forefront of the Arango Cigar Co. is President Mike Gold. With over four decades of experience as an importer and distributor in the industry, Gold’s leadership has been instrumental in maintaining the company’s reputation for excellence.

A prominent figure associated with Arango Cigar Co. is Erik Stokkebye, a renowned name in the tobacco industry. Erik is a part of the Pipe Tobacco Council Board of Directors. The Stokkebye family has been deeply connected to tobacco since 1882. Erik Peter Stokkebye, Erik’s great grandfather, founded the Stokkebye Company in Odense, Denmark. This brand has a rich history, and even today, the legacy lives on through products like the Oliver Twist brand.

Stokkebye’s journey in the tobacco trade began at the age of 16 when he learned the art of hand-rolling cigars at a local factory. Passionate about tobacco, he pursued further knowledge about leaf tobacco in the U.S. and pipe tobacco in Germany, which continues to be a significant market to this day.

The Stokkebye family’s contribution to the tobacco industry has been significant. and Their factory in Denmark, now stands as an official historical building. While the factory has evolved into a women’s clothing store, the legacy of the Stokkebye name lives on through their exceptional products and continued influence on the industry.

As Arango Cigar Co. continues to thrive, their focus remains on the satisfaction of their loyal customers. They measure success not by the number of customers they have, but by the number they keep as a testament to the enduring relationships they cultivate.
