Our Roots

Pipe Tobacco Council

Since its inception in 1976, the Pipe Tobacco Council (PTC) has served as the leading trade association for the pipe tobacco industry. While pipe tobacco represents a smaller segment of the broader tobacco market, it carries a rich heritage rooted in traditions that predate the founding of this country. Over generations, these customs have shaped a unique and devoted pipe tobacco culture. For many, smoking pipe tobacco is more than a pastime—it is a lifelong, passionate pursuit.

Partnering to Preserve the Craft of Pipe Tobacco

At the heart of the Pipe Tobacco Council’s mission is a deep appreciation for the artisans who shape the industry’s rich tapestry. From the meticulous blending of tobaccos to the intricate craftsmanship of pipe making, these individuals uphold traditions that have been passed down through generations. Their dedication ensures that the essence of pipe smoking remains a cherished tradition—not just a pastime.

By fostering a community that values both heritage and innovation, the Pipe Tobacco Council ensures that the legacy of pipe tobacco continues to flourish for longtime enthusiasts and new aficionados alike.
